After over-landing throughout Africa for over seven months, in search of wildlife and wild stories, it was Luka’s colorful presence that will forever mark me. We had been on countless safaris and not yet experienced the illusive leopard in daylight, until this climactic moment. This resident leopard had not been seen for a while and thanks to the experience, training, and relentlessness of our guides we came across the sunbather. Now if you spot a leopard in the wild be prepared for a very brief encounter, since they seldom allow the company. As I sat very still in this moment, a mere 6 feet from his majesty everything around us began to fade and his prince like pattern and colorful existence placed an irrevocable spell on me. The closest I could ever come to sharing this encounter and embrace with you, would be through this archived photo I took of him.
